WasteShark Keeps Trash from Reaching the Seas

Sep-14-16 The WasteShark drone from RanMarine can patrol harbors and waterways, keeping the water clear of waste.

Created by Richard Hardiman, the WasteShark’s function was based on the knowledge that most trash in the ocean started at the shore. The autonomous, floating drone will travel the surface of harbors to trap the floating garbage before it can be washed out to the ocean. The collected waste is gathered in a receptacle in the drone, where it can be collected and disposed of.

The WasteShark is currently being tested in the Port of Rotterdam.
