A new small wearable patch not only tracks the user’s amount of UV exposure, but also lets them know when they have achieved their recommended daily dose of Vitamin D.
Developed by a team from the University of Southern California’s Viterbi School of Engineering, the flexible, waterproof patch is clear at first, and will slowly change color as it is exposed to sun. The patch will turn orange after the first fifteen minutes in the sun, and transition to a dark orange after an hour. The patch does not require a power source, and its lightweight and flexible nature makes it ideal for use by athletes and outdoor enthusiasts.
