Method for Damp-proofing and Consolidating Rocks and Other Building Materials
The invention relates to a method for damp-proofing and consolidating rocks and other building materials. Said method involves a treatment that can simultaneously damp-proof and consolidate the treated stony substrate. The treatment penetrates deep and efficaciously into the pores of the adulterated rock, increasing the cohesion thereof and simultaneously preventing the water in a liquid state from penetrating into the porous structure of the rock, the water in a liquid state being the main vehicle for salts and contaminating agents. The method is predominantly used in the conservation of monumental buildings and other valuable historic-artistic pieces.
