In order to improve a root pin (10) for the endodontic care of a root-stump, in particular combined with occlusal caps, said root pin has a one-piece base body (14) made from a plastic matrix material and it offers increased safety in relation to pin and root fractures. According to the invention, said one-piece base body (14) is helical and is designed to taper from the proximal to the distal end.
