Multipath Propagation in Wireless Radio Communications Using a Phase Retrodirective Antennna

Description Multipath propagation is used to form a wireless radio communication channel. A key component in the method is the use of a retrodicrective antenna as one of the antennas. The other antenna, in this point-to-point communication system, is a wide beam receiving and transmitting antenna. Because of the conjugate phase properties of the retrodirective antenna, the returning multipath signals do ad up coherently or constructively at the receiving wide beam antenna. Applications More predictable and reliable communication channel More immune and automatically adaptive to changes in the communications environment Main Advantages Better signal-to-noise ratio Needs less transmitted power
