How Open Innovation Can Help the Wine Industry

March 17, 2013 By IdeaConnection

Red_Wine_GlassThe Wine Spiral Project is an open innovation initiative for winemakers and members of the wine industry to share ideas and innovate.

More than 500 wineries from nearly 30 countries are currently involved with the international online platform.

The site provides a forum for wineries, winemakers, sommeliers, wine lovers, institutions and schools to launch ideas, find out about wine industry trends and needs and expand their networks.

Every aspect of wine making and the wine industry is open for discussion. Topics can include packaging, wine labels, marketing, sustainability, wine tourism, and corks.

The platform’s founders hope that this collaborative intelligence tool will help keep its members at the forefront of the industry.

“Our desire is to make collaborative intelligence the key tool for growth of wineries. Wine Spiral Project spreads worldwide the culture of innovation.”

Wine Spiral Project Activities

Signing up is free and some of the activities to help boost innovation include:

The Testing Zone – members can send in new proposals and request opinions on collaborative SWOTs to help improve products and services.

The Forum – solve queries, raise questions and start debates.

The Wineshaker – here members can try out some of their bold new ideas to gauge interest and find other members who may be interested in their development. Members can reward others for their contributions.

The Wine Spiral Project is also developing a mobile application so members can be plugged in and connected to the wine innovation community wherever they are.
