P&G Highlights Open Innovation Partners for their Game-Changing Contributions

November 3, 2012 By IdeaConnection

Global consumer goods company Procter & Gamble is often looked upon by many other businesses as a source of inspiration for its pioneering open innovation efforts, particularly its Connect+Develop (C+D) program.

This week it turned the spotlight on others and recognized seven, among its hundreds of partners for their innovations and collaborative efforts.

The winners are a diverse bunch and include small companies, large organisations and academia.

“Our Connect+Develop partnerships are helping us deliver game-changing innovations and strengthen our productivity culture,” said P&G Chairman of the Board, President and Chief Executive Officer Bob McDonald. “We celebrate their work, and thank them for their partnership.”

Among the seven are:

2012 Connect+Develop Partner of the Year: MonoSol of La Porte, Indiana

MonoSol partnered with P&G to develop Tide Pods, a three-chamber liquid unit that cleans and fight stains. This laundry innovation achieved a 68 percent share of the unit dose segment in only a few months.

Key to its success was MonoSol’s invention of a clear film that separates the chambers, dissolving completely even in varied temperatures.

James N. Gamble Product Innovation Award: Zobele Group of Trento, Italy

This award focuses on innovation in game-changing product formulation, packaging or technology. Zobele teams partnered with P&G to create a special scent-releasing membrane that made Febreze Set & Refresh a market leader. They also helped to speed up the development process, delivering the innovation to market in months as opposed to years.

The full list of winners and their open innovation contributions can be read here in P&G’s press statement.
