Determinants of the Acute Sickness Response

The present invention relates to a method for predicting the severity of an acute sickness response in a subject, said method comprising detecting the presence of a polymorphic marker in the subject, wherein said polymorphic marker is located in a cytokine-encoding gene, and wherein said polymorphic marker is predictive of the severity of an acute sickness response in the subject. The present invention relates to a method for predicting the severity of an acute sickness response in a subject, said method comprising detecting the presence of a polymorphic marker in the subject, wherein said polymorphic marker is located in a cytokine-encoding gene, such as interferon gamma (IFN-?), interleukin 10 (IL-10) or interleukin 6 (IL-6), and wherein said polymorphic marker is predictive of the severity of an acute sickness response in the subject.
