Treatment of Hepatitis C Virus Infections

This present invention provides for a new class of HCV NS3/4A protease inhibitors as additional therapeutics for hepatitis C virus. The proposed compounds, bilverdin, bilirubin, and derivatives thereof, are based on natural enzymatic products of heme metabolism that may be more stable, better tolerated, and more resistant to mutations than present prototypic protease inhibitors.
