Transit Switching System for Monorail Vehicles

PATENT NUMBER 6,393,993
TRANSIT SWITCHING SYSTEM FOR MONORAIL VEHICLES relates to providing a monorail switching system for individually and selectively routing vehicles between a main track and merged tracks on a dedicated route.

Furthermore, vehicles can be public, business, or privately owned and are specially designed with a longitudinal keel to safely guide the vehicle on the monorail system. Vehicle suspension and propulsion can be any of the present wheeled systems (e.g. trains, cars) or magnetic levitation (MAGLEV) and propulsion.

ADVANTAGES--the keel is very safe for longitudinal stability and switching. Vehicles can travel free flowing bumper-to-bumper or actually linked while one vehicle may be switched out to leave the string of vehicles without disturbing the other vehicles at high speeds. At no time during high speed travel is there any metal to metal, or rubber tire contact, due to magnetic centering.
