Mixing Cell for Microcalorimeters

The present invention relates to a device and method for measuring the heat of reaction resulting from the mixture of a plurality of liquid reagents. The heat of reaction is one of the most important thermochemical characteristics of any reaction and is widely used in fundamental research and applied studies, since it contains the main information on the energetics of a chemical reaction under study. Direct colorimetric measurements of the heats of reaction of liquid reagents are of special importance in chemistry, biochemistry, molecular biology, biotechnology, and pharmacology. Until today, however, the use of reaction calorimetry has been limited by the relatively low sensitivity of existing instruments. Description (Set) Proposed Use (Set) It is an object of the present invention to provide a method that eliminates the problems associated with use of the mechanical stirrer, the need to shake during reaction microcalorimetry, and the need to use a circulating water bath in a microcalorimetric instrument Patent (Set) 5,707,149
