The JHU Sleep Center's Interactive Training Module for Polysomnogram (PSG) Scoring

Abstract (Set) This interative computer program represents the first fully interactive tool that allows one to score sleep studies that can be checked against board certified and eligible sleep specialists and a certified sleep technologist based on the APSS 2007 PSG scoring guidelines. The product(s) will consist of (Part1: Normal Sleep , Part2: Respiratory Scoring, Part3: Leg movements Part4: Sleep Disorders (i.e. apneas, narcolepsy, circadian disorders, parasomnias), and Unusual Sleep Phenomena (i.e. artifacts, bruxism). A self-testing Scoring Session teaches trainees, sleep technologists, and sleep specialists how to properly score sleep studies. A wide variety of pediatric and adult sleep study excerpts as well as a few complete sleep studies are available for individuals to self-test sleep scoring technique. Performance on these ?unscored? studies can then be cross-checked by the scores determined by the JHU sleep team based on a minimum inter-rater reliability of 80% amongst the members of the expert team. Teaching points in the cases are emphasized, making this the perfect tool for clinical self-assessment and board preparation.
