Method for the direct extraction of isothiocyanates into the seed oil from glucosinolate-containing plant seeds

JHU researchers have developed a methodology for simple, reliable, stable, and inexpensive incorporation of plant isothiocyanates into oils such as natural plant seed oils. Some plant isothiocyanates are cancer chemoprotective, antibiotic, or insect repellents. These oils are ideal for topical dermal application. Description (Set) Proposed Use (Set) This technology may be deployed in the production of cancer-preventive, anti-aging, and anti-wrinkle dermal (skin) products. This oil-based delivery system is also useful for foods, food supplements, and nutraceuticals. The antibiotic, antifungal, and insect repellent properties of these oils also make them ideal for formulation into biorational or natural, agricultural biopesticides. Their formulation in soil-incorporated, drench and foliar sprays, both alone, and in synergistic combinations with other pesticides, has temendous potential. Patent (Set) WO 2006/065736
