Suggested uses
This stent may be used to prevent or treat gastrointestinal leaks.

Advantages
Currently to remove an esophageal stent, endoscopy is performed to grasp the suture at the proximal aspect of the stent and the patient must be sedated. This method of removal is cumbersome, can be technically difficult and time consuming. This new stent can be removed easily without the need to sedate the patient.
