Mass-Correlated Pulsed Extraction for a Time-of-Flight Mass Spectrometer
This method and apparatus provides improved focusing and mass resolution over a broad mass range for a time-of-flight mass spectrometer. This is accomplished in a two-source extraction scheme in which the second field is dynamic and compensates for the mass dependency of pulsed extraction methods. The technique is particularly helpful when instruments are utilized for complex mixtures, tryptic digests and oligonucleotide sequencing ladders that are recorded over a broad mass range.
